Visiting Round Lake/Shopper Docks
Nestled between Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan, Round Lake, Charlevoix’s harbor, offers complementary docks space to boaters who would like to visit the town’s shops and restaurants. As of the 2007 harbor expansion, Charlevoix increased is shopper’s dock space from 50 feet to 340 feet.

Beaver Island Ferry

This remote yet inhabited island located in Lake Michigan, about 32 miles north of Charlevoix, with a year-round population of about 550. The ferry season begins in early April and ends just before the Christmas.

Ironton Ferry

The Ironton Ferry, in operation since 1876, crosses Lake Charlevoix’s South Arm, five miles south of Charlevoix. People from all over have made it a point to ride the aferry, operated by a cable, as part of their Charlevoix experience. The ferry operates late spring through early fall, 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The cost is $3.25 per car, .50 per person without a vehicle or bicycle, $1.00 per person with a bicycle. A book of 20 tickets can be purchased for $50.00 at the Ferry.

Beaches
There are numerous public beaches on the shores of Lake Charlevoix to enjoy for sunbathing and swimming.

Depot Beach
Adjacent to the old train depot museum on Lake Charlvoix, at the south end of Mercer Boulevard of U.S. 31. Restrooms, playground, volleball net, grills, picnic pavillion, lifeguards during posted hours. Operated by the City of Charlevoix.

Elm Pointe
In East Jordan along M-66. Swimming beach on South Arm of Lake Charlevoix, picnic area. Two museums, Historical Museum and Portside Art, both open 1-4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday during July and August.

Apple Festival
One weekend every October, area farmers line Bridge Street in East Park to showcase a fresh selection of apples, apple cider and other treats like pies, jams and fresh doughnuts. For more information, call (231) 547-2101.

Boyne City Fall Harvest and Heritage Festival
Boyne City’s Fall Harvest Festival typically occurs at the beginning of October in Veteran’s Park in downtown Boyne City. Charlevoix Venetian Festival
Typically held around the third week of July, this week-long festival in downtown Charlevoix features a carnival with rides, food and live entertainment in the park, capped off by a boat parade and fireworks over Round Harbor on the final Saturday. Boyne City 4th of July Festival

National Morel Mushroom Festival
Join in the hunt and enjoyment of the elusive morel mushroom during Boyne City’s annual May festival. Now in it’s 50th year, between the festival and the Boyne Valley Lion’s National Morel Mushroom Hunt, EVERYTHING, including local restaurant menus, is all about this wonderful mushroom.
